It also says: A 12 month contract term may apply to selected customers. Now just need to figure out what that means...

Well that was an interesting chat with the Vodafone Sales and then the Technical team. I can definitely get FibreX but I had a few questions around how it will be set up and what modem will be provided.

This is what I got told:

- a black box (assuming the technicolor 4400) will be installed on the wall which will then have a cable going to the HG569 router

- I can still get a static IP if I choose to

- If VF are unable to get me connected within 3 days, the $100 credit will be applied to the second bill from when I am connected

- The first training session for the techies on FibreX starts at 3.30pm today and they got sent an email this morning so they have close to no information around the technical side apart from "its now available" so he asked me to call back either later on today or tomorrow.

The question I had was more or less trying to validate if the new modem used for this will have bridge mode capability but the answer I got was you will have to use the HG659.

@MikeHales or @morat or someone else, can anyone please validate if I can use my current firewall and just do the vlan tagging on it and not use the HG659? I know its somewhat been eluded that the vlan tagging will happen but I need to validate this before I make the jump to it.

Also, is it me or the new "fastest" option is at the same price as the old 130/10 plan?

I have just upgraded (call centre) from HFC 100/10 to 200/20Mbps, and was offered a 12 month term - without asking for it.

Took 30 minutes.

Happy camper.  smile

I just got off of a call with the call center. I was looking to upgrade to the naked, gigabit plan.

I was given two options:

24-month contract - $20 discount for the first 24 months = $89.99 p/m

or

12-month contract - $10 discount for the first 12 months = $99.99 p/m

I went for the 12 month contract.

edit: prices were wrong way round

I have just upgraded to the gigabit over cable. 24 month plan with the first 6 months half price. $100 account credit if it's not done in 3 days.

I'm more then happy with this deal and it was all done with a quick phone call.

I must say that I'm a very happy customer :) thanks Vodafone

Gigabit showing for me here in Cashmere, CHCH

Damn, the address checker is telling me Upper Riccarton is no-go for FibreX - so no FibreX Max...

Though... I'm a bit concern about the inclusion/reliance on HG659... I use Apple Airport Extreme router with the current Cisco modem. I would rather have the set up kept this way.

Any advice on how to - when it is available for my area - to get on to FibreX Max with minimal fuss? And I would like to retain my current "static" IP as well.
