Now to get back on topic, my speeds are as follows

Auckland
3758 Down
Up 554

This is about half the speed I usually get, but still 1megabits better than when I was on Xtra

What line speed does your router report?

mine reports:
ADSL Speed (DS/US)7040/896 Kbps

DownStream Connection Speed 6016 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 896 kbps

Looks like I have been moved onto the new backhaul trunk from Telecom to xnet int-l35-akl-dsl02.wxnz.net

I was on dls01 before which was the connection causing problems.

I still have trouble will slow speeds, I'm getting 2megabits to speedtest/Auckland/xnet now which I think is the Telecom backhaul but I've given up trying to work out why broadband @ my home in Parnell is bad.

Tyler - Parnell Geek - iPhone 3G - Lenovo X301 - Kaseya - Great Western Steak House, these are some of my favourite things.

If it makes you feel better Woosh is as bad or worse. Help desk has no solution except keep paying or change plans. Must be a virus.

Same thing with Orcon.
There's a HUGE thread on Orcon being crap over on Gameplanet.

As a new Xnet customer, I would like to add my name to this thread. Just tested speeds to Europe - horrible. A dial-up connection would match speed from Paris! Basically, it seems as if someone is standing hard on the pipe between us and the outside world.

What ISP did you come from? Were the speeds on them any good?

Torrents don't count, since they have multiple connections.
Only single-stream HTTP/FTP downloads count.

why not? it shows the max attainable data rate i can get on my connection. only using 1 server limits the data rate to their upload?

Because the problem is to do with single-steam connections. Not multiple-stream connections.

If I stick an 6-stream download, I'll get my max speed. One-stream, and it's awful!
