johny99: @jasonparis Would it not be more cost effective to deliver service over UFB, than upkeep the HFC network? Been the dinosaur it now is.
@johnny99 No not more cost effective cause each connection on UFB is a tax paid to a wholesale provider, If it was more cost effective to sell a connection over UFB then VodafoneNZ would be doing it
The HFC network is not a dinosaur it's had a huge amount of $$ spent on it to upgrade it to DOCSIS 3.1

Put simply: it's their own network, they don't need to pay a line rental to Chorus every month if they have people connected on cable, as opposed to fibre.

How often is that though?
Linux:Distorter: Anyone know when the HFC relaunch is going to happen?
Would be nice to see a preview of the plans. Hoping it creates some competition.@Distorter What relaunch?
I just had a look at the Address Checker and the option for DSL is now gone also, Fibre only.

...
Voda decided they need to commit to HFC, after basically trying to escape it. Hence a relaunch of HFC. New plans/promos incoming but bugger all info can be found.
Where did you get the information they were doing a relaunch and they were "trying to escape" from? Link?
And it would only "create competition" in areas where cable is available...which when compared to the fibre rollout isn't that much of the country now.
