I'm happy with Vodafone's cable broadband service so far and the d/u speed is great (120Mbps/10Mbps) but why couldn't Vodafone have issued a modem with an off/standby button?

I could switch it off from the mains when not in use or pull out the plug from the back of the modem but I think that might generate nasty voltage spikes.  This thing gives off warmth and I'm wondering how much it will add to my power bill?

Tony.

Hi,

Electrical components like those wouldnt have a very large impact on your power bill. I would recommend leaving them on as they are designed to be on 24/7. I leave my Modem and 3 wireless AP's and 1 server on 24/7 and it costs me $5 max of power a month. (Auckland)

Cheers
