Hi all

Our unlimited broadband plans are here. Available as Naked VDSL, VDSL with phone, Naked ADSL and ADSL with phone, and of course naked fibre, fibre with phone, and naked cable and cable with phone. Lots of options.

Hi all

Great to see all the discussion today! We've chatted to a couple of teams in the business to get a more specific definition about personal/commercial use, and that is:

"Vodafone considers activities like working from home, remotely accessing personal files stored on your home network and other connected remote monitoring uses as personal use and not commercial. As we explain in our terms, non-residential, commercial purposes will include (but is not limited to) selling bandwidth to third parties or running an Internet Service Provider"

mwh: ftp.citylink.co.nz is in two (three?) different places. If you're on the Telstra network you get it from the server that's physically in the US because they don't peer at WIX. Strictly it isn't local traffic going overseas and back, it's international traffic that could just as well be local.

Pretty sure it's only in one location, it's just how it routes there (Wellington). The reason this happens is because Telstra and Telecom require content providers and ISPs to pay to peer with them.

So, because Citylink won't pay to peer with them the traffic ends up going via America. That's my understanding of it anyway.

Folks, two pages discussing this, when the answer is above. TelstraClear did not peer with Citylink in WLG and all traffic ALWAYS had to go to the USA and back. Vodafone continues to operate separate networks: people on cable see things differently from what people on DSL see.

I suggest no need for tracert and other stuff, as this is known and won't be "fixed" soon.
