We have a Suresignal (SS) because the VF cell signal was pretty poor for a while. Upgrades have seen the signal boosted on 3G to 3 or 4 dots depending where in the house you are.

My wife has been complaining of awful call quality (iPhone 6 to iPhone 6 +) when I am at home and she is working in Auckland. She is home for the weekend so we did an experiment.

With the SS unplugged, call quality is just fine.

As soon as it is plugged in and in use, the quality goes to hell.

Any idea why?

Geektastic: It sounds very similar to a call where one or more callers is in a poor signal area - we even tried it with both phones using the SS and it was still bad.

Have you checked if our mobile coverage has by any chance been upgraded in your area recently? The device might not even be needed at all anymore, and may in fact cause handover issues if your coverage is now okay.  The number of faults that cross my desk for SS issues because coverage has been upgraded is mind boggling.
