So when are Vodafone going to offer gigabit internet to Dunedin? The only response I have seen from Vodafone is that they don't plan on offering gigabit speed because they wont make any money.

sweetasman01: The thing is that it costs no extra because Chours is selling it at normal fibre cost, the infrastructure is in place, it just needs Vodafone to to flip a switch. Other ISPs are selling it.

No extra cost for the last mile (chours) component, but I imagine an ISP may be very concerned about the national backhall capacity, and international link bandwidth. A handful of users could saturate a lot of bandwidth if they decided to max out their gigabit connection for substantial periods of time.

I wouldn't bother waiting for Vodafone to offer gigabit, if you want it go to ans ISP that does offer it. Pay the break fee if you need to. It is Vodafone commercial decision what plans it offers.
