I've just received my latest bill from vodafone and noticed a note on the first page;

Here at Vodafone, we're always looking to keep prices down however Government charges across the Telecommunications Industry mean you'll see some changes to your bill. From your December bill onwards we will be applying a telecommunications levy contribution of 99c Incl. GST per month to any On Account mobile plan you may have with us.

This contributes towards payments Vodafone makes to the Government such as under the Telecommunications Development Levy and the Telecommunications Regulatory Levy.

For more details visit vodafone.co.nz/telecommunicationslevy

It's possible I've missed some discussions somewhere on this, since I haven't been around much, but thought there would have been a discussion happening somewhere.

This may very well affect other Telco's as well, but only filing under Vodafone at this stage, as I've only seen Vodafone announcing this change.

Time to go have a read, me thinks!

EDIT: You may ignore this thread and pop over to http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=40&topicid=183774 which has already reported on this :)
