We're continually upgrading our network so you can keep enjoying consistent and reliable broadband speeds. To help you make the most of our latest upgrade we just need to make one slight change to your IP address.

What's an IP Address?

An IP address is a unique number that our network uses to find your computer, phone or tablet on the internet - kind of like how your street address tells the postie where to deliver a letter for you.

What's changing?

At the moment you have a static IP address - meaning your address never changes. We're now moving you into the future with a dynamic IP address. That's when a unique number is temporarily assigned by the network each time you connect to it.

What does that mean for me?

Most of our customers won't notice any difference at all when this change is made. You can still use your broadband in exactly the same way for all the streaming, multi-screening and downloading you do in your home.

However, a small group of our customers may prefer a static IP address - for example, if they're using a media server.

What do I need to do?

There's absolutely nothing you need to do to get your dynamic IP address. We'll make the change for you and you can look forward to even more consistent and reliable broadband.

However, on the small chance that you'd like to keep your static IP address all you need to do is fill in this quick form within the next 10 working days. If you're not sure, check out ourFAQs where you'll find answers to commonly asked questions about the change.

We hope you continue to enjoy all the awesome things the Vodafone network has to offer.

Thanks,
The team at Vodafone

The option is there to stay on a static IP, if there much/any benefit to this?

This is for Vodafone Cable in Wellington

If you need to ask if staying on a static ip will benefit you, you will almost certainly not notice the difference.

Only time you require a static ip is if your hosting something inbound, which is not backed by a DDNS service.
