Since last night (15 November) my connection have been suffering mini outages of 3 to 5 minutes. Same this morning (16 November).

While on the #geekzone channel last night I found out people in Lower Hutt had no problems. Anyone else in the Johnsonville area experiencing this?

I had a few problems yesterday afternoon for a short while but this morning was ok (listened to National Radio for half an hour after 6 with no problems). In Wadestown.

I have been mentioning microoutages for a while in Khandallah.  While they do correct themselves, they are really annoying. Often though for me to get back online, I have to reset my router (Belkin) and I suspecting there is some strange interaction between the TCL network and my router.

I don't think it's my router and their network, since I've been using the same router for more than 3 years now. It just started last night, and this morning is going at 3 - 5 minutes outages every 20 minutes or so.

Really, really annoying.

Tried calling TelstraClear to be greeted with a recoding warning me of a 45 minutes waiting for an tech.

I will power cycle the router sometimes and it occasionally helps. Other times I will just wait and problem fixes itself. The problem usually shows up as a download slowly reducing speed from whatever I was getting (e.g. 100Kbs) down to zero and then web sites getting Not Found messages. Wait a while and the speed slowly picks up again.

Really annoying as you say. There is no excuse for this but it's really hard to communicate to CS.

Have been experiencing these in Upper Hutt, too. Really frustrating when one is trying to download a large file* and the connection decides to bung up. My poor wallet!

Don't know if this qualifies as a micro outage, but about 10-15 min. ago I could only access trademe and stuff.co.nz. I tried accessing telstraclear, geekzone, amazon and a paradise homepage all unsuccesfull. This lasted (I think) for about 5 min. I live in Lower Hutt. Possibly initially I couldn't access anything, but I thought my router might be at fault so rebooted the computer.

Past few days there have been outages on my connection for about 15-30 minutes at around 7:30 at night.  The connection completely dies - no broadband and no TV, either.  I kinda assumed it was to do with the high winds bringing lines down.

And these mini outages continue today, 36 hours doing it.

What are you guys doing at TelstraClear now?

I guess unless they read this board or somebody calls them (can actually wait on the phone that long and try to explain to somebody the problem), they will do nothing.

It's really quite frustrating that the best potential Internet service we have is beset with so many problems and lacking customer support.

They do read here, and I've contacted someone.

I called TCL this morning, from my mobile - handy because of a Bluetooth headset, the only way of enduring a 45 minute wait time.

Talked to someone who told me there was an outage in Johnsonville last night (perhaps fixing whatever problem I had since a day before?) and asked me to power cycle the modem. I told him I've done that, but he then insisted on counting 60 seconds. I obliged, and guess what? It came back on-line almost instantly after that. So far so good, no mini outages since then.

Let's follow this during the day. In the meantime thanks Vodafone and HSDPA for keeping me connected on my laptop.

I haven't noticed any outages at home or work over the past few days so it tends to suggest it's probably a localised issue.
