I did post in the main LAN forum but no response thus far - I'm hoping you guys can help out.

So my RTA1025W seems to be slowly dying . VOIP and internet is with Xnet, so I've already got an existing SPA2102 analog adaptor to deal with the voip/phone side of things.

I see that most people are suggesting half bridge with modem and seperate router. What are my options for a modem/router setup with the SPA2102?

I'd prefer not to slap down $90+ for the Draytek Vigor 120 modem and might grab a cheap RTA1320 from Trademe (knowing it will die in 1-2yrs). Any others I should consider?

A number of people seem to be recommending the TL-WR1043ND router; will this work with the SPA2102? I'm not sure if I have to get a router with added functionality to deal with the VOIP\SPA2102 side of things... or is a router that can handle QOS all I need?

Seriously, get the Draytek, it's not that much and will save you hours of headaches. Trust me.

For VFX I'd go with the SRP527. You can probably get from WxC and pay over three months. If you have any issues with the "modem" side, you can switch LAN port 4 to WAN and use a Draytek there. These will also run your future fibre connection.

Just another Idea in case anyone is interested. I am using a Vodafone HuaweiHG556a, I chose this after trying to find a all in one modem/router/wifi/voip analog adapter and this one fits the bill and I picked it up on trademe for less than $10. I was using a regular wifi modem with a linksys RT31P2-NA for my router and voip with great results but wanted to downsize the desk clutter and stumbled across the Vodafone wifi/modem/router that with some tweaking of settings works as a voip adapter. Although I noticed the voice quality is slightly poorer I am happy with the end result as it is a stand on end unit and is tucked behind my monitor. Now just one unit instead of 2,3 or 4. Cheers
