So, I bought a new Supa Prepay simcard at the start of this month, and ever since have been getting a minimum of two texts a week talking about all the "hot new add-ons" their new plan offers. It's really irritating especially as you think you may have gotten a worthwhile text and then... well yeah

Is this just me getting them? and is there any way to stop them!

I switched my wife's mobile to Supa Prepay on 1/11.  She has also got around 3 or 4 promotional texts since that time.

One or more of them confirmed the BestMate number (my mobile) so that was reassuring to know we had it set up correctly.

As for stopping these messages, I have no idea.  Hopefully they will reduce in number during December.

Hmm, wonder if its because I haven't actually signed up for any of the add-ons, or maybe they decided because of the age group I'm in (which they would have gotten when I registered) I should be targetted.

I've had a battle with vodafone over the past year or two to stop promotional (spam) messages from them to my phone. They keep saying they've stopped, but once in a while they still get through. No offense to anyone who works there but either your systems or processes have a few issues.

So you could try calling and asking to have promotional messages stopped. They generally stop them all, but you will still get some.

Let me get this straight Pebbles.. your on Supa Prepay without any addons... so your paying $0.89 a minute for calls and still paying $0.20 per sms?

$0.89 a minute to 027 mobiles certainly beats the $1.39 peak rate on Prepaid Nights and weekends or the $1.39 anytime rate on Prepaid Motormouth.
Plus you get capped calling, cheaper international calling to select countries...

What annoyed me with the last sim I got was that it came on supa-prepay, so the included $5 expires after 3 months, not 1 year. They didnt have any non-supa prepay ones, it did come in a nifty little box thing however.

I'm giving up registering for the extra $10, I can never remember what name and DOB etc I give for each sim...

And yes, I have gotten lots of those texts on that sim, despite only making the one call to set up the voicemail on it.
