Anyone had any luck getting Telstra to pricematch some of the plans out there now - or have a heads up on a price drop coming up?

New plans from Telecom for $119 for 500Gb, and $115 from Vodafone (/boggle at them owning Telstra....) for 400Gb, kinda put the whole $155 for 150Gb Telstra plan to shame.  Tried ringing them to see what they could do yesterday and their 'customer retention' rep did the quality job of offering exactly what I could already find online ($155 for 150Gb)...

Also, Telecom are charging $0.50 per Gb if you go over your cap, vs $2.95 from Telstra for 2Gb, AND they charge per Mb, rather than per block...

I really love my cable connection, but if Telstra don't bring something competitive out soon they're going to lose me, and I would think a lot of others, as a customer.

I agree. I've never considered it before but I'd be tempted to break my contract and pay the penalty if I started looking at other deals...

But there is no competition in cable apart from the the UFB which is limited. So you only option maybe to  switch to an adsl provider. Telecoms plan is very good, but there are also lower cost providers out there.
