Hi all,

I've not long moved into a subdivision with XNet Fusion fibre. I've had a look through the forum, but haven't quite found what I'm looking for. (Perhaps I just don't know what to look for)
Currently using all the standard-issue equipment (WRP400, etc.)

Can I set up my Android phone (2.3.6) to use my VFX VoIP account? i.e. can I make and receive calls on my XNet VFX number with my Samsung Galaxy Ace 2?

If so, how would I configure it?

You will need to ring WxC and have your Fusion service disabled from your WRP400 and moved to an Open VFX account. Once this is done you'll be provided with the SIP details that you can enter into the softphone of your choice (I would recommend Bria).

Just be aware that doing so will mean you can't make or receive calls on your WRP400 since only a single SIP regisration can work at a time. If you wanted the capability to have a client on your phone and analogue phones you need a router that supports this capability such as a Fritz!box.

There isn't a limitation with the WRP400 - you've asked how to hook up a phone. You can't have an ATA and a mobile phone running a SIP client connected to SIP proxy at the same time as SIP only supports single registrations.

A Fritz!box has a mini PBX inside that allows you to have multiple phones and mobile phones running the Fritz!fon iOS or Android app connect as different extension numbers to make and receive calls.

As mentioned above it basically features a mini PBX inside it along with ISDN BRI, FXO and FXS ports.

The WRP400 is a router with VoIP capabilities featuring 2 FXS ports.

Is it not possible to have multiple SIP registrations on the same account - is it just a VFX limitation? E.g. what would happen if someone wanted to have 3 or 4 VOIP desk phones without a PBX (not syaing they would)?

It's how SIP works.

All can make outbound calls but th last one to register will be the ony one that will ring, so this will alternate as they all reregister continually.

It's how SIP works.

I hope not... ive just been through the process with Xnet to move a second line from one SPA504G to an additional SPA504G in another room. Hopefully the phone power adapter will be here today so I can test.

It seems odd that Xnet support would help me through that process if it's technically not possible.

The difference you have there is you are moving a number off 1 device onto another, what was originally discussed is the same number on 2 separate devices (which is not possible).

That's a very different scenario - a second line will have a different SIP registration from your main line. You can only have a single device at one time using the same SIP registration.

got totally confused here - didnt realise the OP wanted the same number on both devices.

Thank you for all your responses.
I'm not so set on the idea that I'd buy new hardware (e.g. Fritz!box), so will keep things as they are. At least for now.
It's good to know the options.
