Chorus have almost finished the ufb work right outside my house [i..e fibre to the demarc 2m from my house], this is in line with the Telecom site that says UFB should be available at my address by May 10th

SNAP and Telecom have UFB plans and I'd rather not sign to one of those 2 [esp for a minimum 12 months etc] before I see what WxC has to offer [are their others?]

Anyhow know what is going on with WxC UFB plans ?

These are the prices at the moment, but you'd have to clarify with the sales team if there are UFB offerings on your area from WxC.

Xnet's UFB plans are released and are aligned with their other offerings.

My understanding however is that these aren't yet available in all UFB areas and are typically limited to existing BoF areas which have now migrated to UFB.

You'll need to sign a 12 month contract with almost any ISP due to the way it's wholesaled.

The salesperson I chatted with on the weekend made no mention of these plans, sigh...

These plans do not tell me what speed I get e.g. 30/10 or 100/50 etc, do they predate the Orcon, SNAP and Telecom offers ?

Are you serious?

You will not find any provider offering "No Contract" for UFB for a long time as kyhwana2 pointed out!

Also, it will take a long time before you have the privilege/choice of provider for your region. It's still very early days bud.

I wasn't expecting no contract [although that would be nice

], what I meant was that if WxC dawdle they won't get the opportunity for my business, in fact they will loose my business as I am an existing customer

Can I get UFB from WxC ?

WxC currently offer UFB services within Auckland and Christchurch only. If you are in one these locations, are in an existing connected subdivisions, or you are in a new home (with structured cabling) served by the Chorus or Enable networks then it is possible that we can provide you with a UFB solutions. A simple check by WxC can confirm the availability of our UFB product for you.

The way I read that is if you are in Auckland or Christchurch UFB areas, and your home is new with structured cabling or?? you have suitable structured cabling and can convince WxC of this; then they possibly can connect you.

I'm an existing customer in Wellington, and have been quite happy with xnet / WxC for the last 5 odd years. In that time I've been quite happy with the service and price (am on the torrent plan) and have encouraged multiple people to take up the service (annoyingly only 2 of them put me as the referrer).

Xnet has been a very good service and the teams that support it have been responsive and knowledgeable. Have enjoyed the services, voip, native ipv6 (on the trial) and the great billing information.

I'm moving within the next month to a house in a UFB area and their position is quite clear, they will not provide ufb service to me as I am not in the Auckland of Christchurch area. It seems a bit strange that they have this approach (I'm moving near the existing BOF area, which is being moved to UFB so I would have thought the interconnects would have been in place, perhaps not).

Given that they were leaders in the "carrier grade" voip space, and supported the BOF trials, I find it a bit unusual that their approach to UFB has been so delayed, however, there are probably reasons that I am not aware of. The way I read their UFB page it seems almost they are trying to put people off. Given that most of the issues listed I would have thought would be matters for Chorus (or the local company) to deal with, and others that would effect their current voip solution, well, it seems "just not normal".
