I take it that with the PAP2T you need a router but with the SPA2102, since it has a LAN port as well, you don't need a separate router.  This is for a friend on cable with the single PC.

He does have an Linksys ADSL modem/router  when he used to have DSL but presumably that can't be used except just as a switch?

Hi Graham,

Yes, you are right, the SPA2102 has router functions as well as being an ATA.

There shouldn't be any reason why you can't continue to use your friend's ADSL modem as a switch.  Just make sure that its IP address doesn't conflict with anything else on your network.

So, I'd better get a SPA2102 for him to use, and he can still use his Linksys wireless adsl modem/switch to share the network when he gets more PCs.
