Ok, so I want to list my fax number in the whitepages. I call the people at Whitepages/Yellowpages and they tell me that because I'm a TCL customer they can't do it and that TCL will do it. So I said ok and I gave TCL a call, they tell me that they can't do it and that I need to ring Whitepages/Yellowpages to get it done...

So who is supposed to do it?

Shouldn't Whitepages/Yellowpages be adding number to the list, disregard what telcos? I mean they're not sold by Telecom NZ, so effective a 3rd party, that specialised in managing number listing.

I really hate this rotating responsibility game, the only victim is the customer.

This is exactly the same BS I got told which ended up going in a big circle until someone at Telecom Directories took ownership of the problem and did something about it Yell

We have rented our business lines from TelstraClear for 3 years now and yet it's always Telecom Directories who contact me each year to arrange the listing.

I'm assuming you have a phone number provided by TCL i.e. on their cable network rather than Telecom's POTS network?

If so, then the procedure is a little different, you will need to pay for a listing AFAIK.  Mauricio was lucky, he has a residential TCL number and it magically appeared in the White Pages after a few years, but Hey, who wants to wait that long?

There is a guy I have dealt with at Telecom Directories who is genuinely helpful, he got my 018 listing sorted out the same day after Telecom told him our number was disconnected (of course, it wasn't, we just ported it to VFX Cool).

If you want, I can send his contact details in a PM rather than posting it in the forum (something he probably wouldn't thank me for, although no doubt heaps of other people would...).
