Thanks Vodafone for being the bearing of such great news! Incredible how I can't get a Facebook authentication SMS but spam goes through just fine.

Hey! Go away, that's my money. I won it fair and square a couple of weeks ago ;-)

I'd rather have the Facebook authentication SMS delivered instead and leave the money to you, sir.

To be fair it seems it's a Windows Phone problem, as JohnR confirmed the SMS is sent to the handset...

The problem is for somethings you now need a Facebook account, eg to register for websites, products, competitions. And these companies then use a relatively poor mode of verification, via your phone, where sometimes the txt never comes through, and there is nothing you can them do.

What you do is set the account under another name, and don't use it for anything else apart from those things. But I guess eventually Facebook will require something like an ID for all accounts, so you are using your real name. Personally I dislike facebook and their policies, so only use it when there is no other option.

I don't use FB to login to other services as I don't want to share this information. But I do want more security on my FB account nonetheless.

Got my wish and also won a few million via text last night.

Curious, what things do you need a Facebook account for? I don't have one and neither do virtually any of my mate's, on the other hand the women folk I know do seem to all have one.

I have a GS4 and received the exact same text. So might not be specific to Windows...

The Windows Phone problem is receiving the FB authentication SMS, not the spam.

Use it to manage a couple of company FB pages and my own contact list with friends. Personally use Twitter more than FB.
