For the last week or so I have notice small outages in the cable modem service - sometimes just a minute, or like now for up to twenty minutes.

Anyone else in this area seeing this?

I have not noticed it, but then if it is happening during the day then i will not notice.

Was it happening today?

Yes, from 8pm through 8:20pm (the time I posted). And multiple times before, from five to ten minutes each time.

I've noticed the network has gone down a couple of times during the day in the past week.

I can tell because my email program starts complaining that it can't retrieve my email. :)

Nothing too unusual though. It's only unusual because it hasn't happened in a couple of months.

Maybe they fixed node W31 by swapping parts from your cabinet! :-)

I'm not seeing those failures here, so either I'm not having them, or the outage is shorter than my email refresh period. :)

My modem shows the following alarms:

2007-07-17 00:07:40 3-Critical    R005.0 Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out
2007-07-16 23:39:15 5-Warning D104.0 DHCP REBIND WARNING - Field invalid in response
2007-07-16 10:18:10 3-Critical    R005.0 Started Unicast Maintenance Ranging - No Response received - T3 time-out
2007-07-16 02:39:15 Warning     D104.0 DHCP REBIND WARNING - Field invalid in response

The modem admin screens are at:

192.168.100.1

You may need to do some interesting things to your firewall/router to allow traffic through to it.

Well, that's expended my knowledge on the subject. :)

When I searched for the T3 timeout error on Google, it seemed that people reporting that error were also noticing a signal power/noise issue.

It seems that it's hard to find what the valid values for the modem are, but google should have some out there. :)  I didn't search long.

It seems that they are often resolved by replacing sockets, and removing splitters.  One guy did mention that water had gotten into his cable somehow, so he was seeing rusty coax shielding.  With the recent wet weather, that might be a reason?  I know that my cable is strung along the ground under the house, not tacked up.

Yes, that could be it... I have no splitters that I am aware of, and don't use the phone line anymore.

I've lodged a fault with TCL through their e-mail system - let's see if it works.

These are my outages as per my Xchat logs, most of them are small and may not have been caused by the cable, inless they are at the same time as Mauricio's? However there is a big outage on Tuesday (the cable may have gone down there, but that was Fossie kicking me from the chat room :D)

My TelstraClear cable connection went down at 9 am today. It still down. After 90 minutes on hold I was told someone will call me *tomorrow* This is not good enough.

That is not good at all!

I wonder what may be causing it? As there seems to be some connection, yet I am connected ATM, so it cannot be the exact same fault.
