Hi All,

Arrived in Australia today and have combined subject wifi hotspot with an Optus prepaid mobile data sim. Hotspot recognises Optus network but there is no data connection - am assuming default set-up is for Vodafone NZ APN etc and have found a settings page on the hotspot home page which allows manual entry of APN but 1) this doesn't seem to make any difference and 2) I am worried it will mess with the settings needed for use back in NZ (although nothing a 'reset' can't fix)

Is possible that I have used the wrong APN.....I also asked for a 4G sim as intention is to use with with a 4G hotspot in the future but I assume that all 4G data sims are backward compatible.

4G is not SIM card related, SIM cards ID subscribers onto the mobile network and hold some names / numbers and SMS all this confusion around SIM cards and 4G was caused by 1 carrier here in NZ

Yes you will need to add the Optus APN for it to work
