So, Vodafone said that they would supply Gigabit plans for Gigatown in April. Well guess what, tomorrow is May so I am looking forward to my connection changing over to Gigabit before midnight.

It seems a pity that they couldn't offer it 6 weeks ago like many providers  but hey, I didn't mind waiting a bit over a month for it to happen.

Oohh, I wonder how amazed I will be when I open my shiny new connection tomorrow.

They haven't given any firm dates just an expectation.

Dead right, but it does appear they were trying to shut down the conversation in March by telling those complaining they would only have to wait a few weeks.

Giving them an "expectation" if you will.

Anyway, when I give customers "expectations", they "expect" to get the product as "expected"...

That doesn't give dates... nor is that message a deductive conclusion that it will be implemented before May.

I think combined with the other one, that's exactly what it is.

My spidey sense is telling me if I want it in the near future I should go to a smaller provider

Yep, they made a marketing mistake akin to over promise under deliver. They should have just said they expect something in the near future and tha gives more breathing space and lower expectations for them to exceed.

From Dictionary.com (thanks phantomdb)

"Expect implies confidently believing, usually for good reasons, that an event will occur"

pretty much how I use the word
