Hi there,

I was hopeing someone would be able to help me, I have a DSL302G Modem. Do I need to replace this to use VFX? Also what hardware do I exactly need to run the VFX - there are some many Linksys units to pick from on the xnet web page & I don't really know alot about them.

Also is it true that all I will need is my broard band & VFX & I will be able to wipe my telecome line & rental?

Thanks

First off -- welcome to Geekzone Ricky Smile

RickyC: I have a DSL302G Modem. Do I need to replace this to use VFX?

The D-Link DSL-302G is a very low-end modem.  It is not impossible to use VFX with this modem, but certainly not the ideal solution.

RickyC: Also what hardware do I exactly need to run the VFX - there are some many Linksys units to pick from on the xnet web page & I don't really know alot about them.

The simplest all-in-one piece of hardware is the Linksys WAG54GP2V2 as shown here:

http://www.xnet.co.nz/vfx/hardware.shtml

It gives you the bonus of a Wireless Access Point if you have any WiFi-equipped laptops in your household and it completely replaces your existing D-Link with nothing else -- apart from a standard telephone -- required to use VFX.

RickyC: Also is it true that all I will need is my broard band & VFX & I will be able to wipe my telecome line & rental?

To do this, you need to sign up for the new product Xnet Fusion which has been released today.  As it says on Xnet's web site:

With Xnet, New Zealanders are no longer required to pay for an analogue phone line in order to get a Broadband connection. For the base price of $69.95 (incl GST) per month, you will get a full speed broadband connection and digital voice phone line.
