I am having problems in getting my VFX PAP2T unit to work. The unit is a preconfigured unit and my account had been set up but unfortunately, I do not get any dial tone nor my unit will show Phone 1 nor 2 lit up. Have tried both but no luck. I had already tried 3 types of phone to connect with no luck as well. I am not anymore sure whats wrong. I called up the help desk after a long wait in the que and they told me to have it on for 20 mins then power off for 5 mins then reconnect and I should get a dial tone. Still no luck. I tried having it connected for more than 1 hour and did the power down for 5 mins and still no luck. I searched for the PAP2T user manual and had come up with the US version and for no dial tone, instruction was to type in 80# and hang up the phone for 30 mins and dial tone should come in. Still no luck, have called back help desk before 8 pm unfortunately again the long que had extended my wait till 15 past 8 pm and therefore had just left a message. I also had sent an email to the help folks hoping for a reply soon. Anybody there who can help would appreciate. My modem/router is a belkin  ADSL+2 Modem with wireless G Plus MIMO Router. My connection speed is registering at 1.7Mbps download and 128kbps upload so I don't think problem is there. Let me know if anyone has any ideas on what's wrong. I will appreciate the help.

Rgds,
MF

Also next time you speak to someone at WxC make sure they got the MAC address correct.  I filled in the on-line application with the correct address, then got a call to check all the details where I told them the address again and the person read it back to me, but they still got the address wrong and after a help desk request they got it right.  I know myself how easily one can swap 2 digits, so no hard feeling about it, but worth checking if you already have the port forwarding sorted out.

If we have the correct details for your device when it comes on line it should be up within a few minutes,

The first thing to check is that you have the provisioning link, if you log on to the PAP2T , go to admin / advanced / provisioning and make sure the default provsioning link is in the profile rule http://58.28.20.69/configs/default/default$MA.cfg .

Maverick,
First of all thanks for the detailed, explanation. My first instinct was to go into the PAP2T admin window when I got the email from WXC but somehow the admin login is locked out. The default username and password doesn't work so I assumed since the PAP2T was a VFX configured unit (based on the sticker on the box) that it had been locked to prevent changes. I did confirm this with a support desk person when I talked to him, and they said this should already had been set up for me. I suspect that it might not be which is causing me the problem. But I don't have access to change it.
Is there a way to get into the admin mode, I would appreciate if you can send me the username and password to my email account or PM to me the details so I can access and change.

As far as the MAC address is concerned, it's correct this was one of the 1st item I did check when I opened the account is to make sure MAC address captured was correct.

Thanks for the inputs, I really appreciate it.

Rgds,
MF

You can factory reset the device, then follow Phil's post above to reenter the provisioning link. To factory reset:
1. Plug phone into one of the line ports
2. Lift handset and dial **** to enter the IRV
3. dial RESET# (73738#) to factory reset
4. dial 1 to confirm
5. Hang up, the PAP2T should reset and now be accessible

Okay this is a strange one, it has picked up its config but we don't see any traffic talking to the Voice network,

Did you put a static IP address on the unit ot let it do DHCP ?, if you did a static can you make sure you put the DNS entries in as if you don't it won't be able to DNS resolution and this could be causing it

It is on DHCP mode enabled, configuration is as I got it and had not changed anything yet. I am planning to try out a reset as coffeebaron had suggested after copying first all the setting via screen print to make sure I restore it back to normal. One thing I notice, if my memory serves me right, the primary and secondary DNS is not showing a 58.28.... port sequence that is why I mentioned that I suspect that the provisoning link on the profile rule is not been set. But I couldn't verify yesterday as the admin access was locked out.

No the provisioning rule is fine as we see it pick up the config, what we don't see is the Attempts to register, can you do  a screen shot of the Voice Status Page please

maverick,
screen shot will have to wait as I am in the office now, but I do specifically recall that in one of the PAP2T windows (info window if I call it right) it had a comment 'can't connect to server' under the line 1 details. I also just got an email from asking th same thing from the support guys and said I did recall this specifically. Unfortunately I am at work today so could not call back Tech help again.

Thats fine, if it says it can't connect to the Logon server then there is aproblem with the router / firewall setup ,

If you have a look at the status page and see how many SIP Messages were sent and How many you recieved, My current guess is that you will see a number Sent but nothing at all Rxed, we do not see any traffic to the Voice network from your IP address, we do see it when it picks up the config and your config is fine, I have tested it and it works fine behind some test routers here, So it does just seem to be an issue with your router setup, so that would be the first suspect at this point.

maverick,
Any suggestions on how to go around it? I don't want to turn off firewall.  Stephen from your help desk also wants me to try to set a static IP for the PAP2T, will this help? Let me know, and thanks again for the assistance.

If you have a firewall on, my first suggestion is to turn it off and check to make sure it all works, from there depending on how smart the firewall is you will have to make some rules to allow UDP Traffic to 58.28.20.150, lets start there

You can also try factory reset your router, reenter your ADSL config etc. Sometimes this will fix a firewall issue, it also brings you back to a defined starting point for playing round with opening up various ports etc. Also if you are confident enough, check for and apply any firmware upgrades for the router too.
