In the past when I travelled (before we had toll-free numbers to call back to our NZ office), we were given calling cards that gave us a toll-free local number in most countries which would then allow us to make calls anywhere - and most importantly - the charges would be charged back to our corporate Telstra account.

I suggested to my wife that she get the cards for herself and her bosses for when they are travelling (and more importantly, so she can make business calls from home to overseas suppliers and have the calls charged back to her work).

When she contacted Customer Services yesterday they didn't seem to know anything about this type of service, nor did they make any suggestions of alternatives.

Anybody from Telstra (or a Telstra customer) got any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Nigel H.

I would ring customer services back up and ask them to look on the TCL web site and search for Calling Cards:

They must just not want your business..........

We used this one in France last year. 0800 number for access, you can set up to 9 (I think it was) numbers for quick-dial, and people in NZ can leave messages (voice mail) for you which cost about 10c to clear. It was a whole heap cheaper than cell roaming etc. Can be used pretty much anywhere, including from NZ. Cheers

Hi Nigel,

I think you're talking about the TelstraClear Clear card which could be charged back to a TCL account. We discontinued this for business customers although they're still available for domestic customers.

When this service was discontinued, we issued prepaid cards [Talk Plus Global] to those business customers that wanted them. These can be loaded with whatever value the business wants and charged to their account. The rates on prepaid cards are generally cheaper and don't have the $2.50 per call surcharge that the Clear card had.  The Talk Plus card can be used to call back from 32 countries. They're also good for use from home phones and are cheaper than tolls.

Give us a call on 0508 415 651 [office hours] if you or your wife are interested.

Regards

Dianne
