So I'm trying to follow Vodafones instructions but no-where do I get to choose what prepay plan I want to be on, it just wants me to set up mates - I don't want mates, I want flex. I'm supposed to be able to changes plans from my account but it just says that there's no plans available. There's the app that comes with the sim with a link to "my current plan", which just sends me a txt saying I'm on "0Val_Toggle_SIM" plan.

Not a productive start at all, not sure where to go from here. Was hoping to order the number port & watch it happen sometime Monday.

Anyone know that the casual rates for the "0Val_Toggle_SIM" plan are :p? Because there's no links in any part of the logged in pages to any of that kind of info.

Sigh.

I couldnt see any difference between mates and flex when I was moving my last sim off the $29 plan onto something with more data and less useless. Both came to the same price when set to the same values. Why do you need flex over mates?

I suppose I don't need it, and it is the same price for what I was looking at. I'm not sure what the real differences are, there are terms for flex which (if I'm interpreting them correctly) I agree with but I can't find the terms for mates. Mates has some possibly illegal ageist free data promo, cand I saw mention somewhere of the carryover cap amounts being different.

It's also possible I could set up mates and then switch to flex, preferably without actually paying for & using mates first.[edit]nope, seems it's not possible to change plans until after topping up[/edit]

Either way I still think it's a problem that it's not possible to pick whichever plan from whatever sim on activation - their instructions certainly don't say you must buy a specific sim, only that you need a prepay sim and 'mates' 'flex' and 'pay & go' are all prepay.

[edit2]
Success!

I set up a mates plan, didn't top up, "change plan" option was missing so I cancelled the mates plan, "change plan" now only has the option of "prepay & go" so I switched to that, "change plan" now gives me the option of flex, I got that set up & topped up. The "Bring Your Number" link never appeared on my account after, but the "switch now" link in the instructions gave me the porting form. The form said Success after, so fingers crossed.

Another victory for recklessly & stubbornly clicking through things.
