Hi,
Just though tI'd share my experience becuase I know a few others out there are considering the same thing. I've been wondering whether to upgrade my bb to BigPipe but I've been with vodafone cable for 6 years, so I thought I'd just take the plunge and upgrade to their FibreX Max option. The Vodafone rep explained to me that it's not actually Fibre, but upgraded cable (so why use the word Fibre on the product name???). Anyway she said they will send a tech over withing 3 days to upgrade the modem. She explained that i can sign up to the 24 month plan - where they give you 1/2 price for the first 6 months, or the 12 months plan. I chose 12 months plan. They offered me $10 p/m discount because i have a Vodafone cell phone, and then she said I can have another $10 off (for no apparent reason - win!) bringing the monthly price to $89 for near gigabit speeds - excellent.
I'll obviously I'll running some speeds tests and report back (I'm in Wellington). Is the Auckland server the best one to use? If anyone wants me to do another speeds tests or anything just let me know (I'm only semi technical, so go easy!)
If it's not great I'll move to Bigpipe in 12 months but I imagine it will be very fast.
Is there anything i should know in advance, or do with regards to tweaking my new set up? Cheers
