I see my FibreX is down again at 6am this Thursday morning here in South Christchurch, second outage here in 3 weeks !! Still out at 8am....

No message on the Vodafone Network status web page just like last time, however we do have a voice message on the 0508 tech support IVR advising of a widespread outage on cable internet and cable tv/phone. Impacting Wellington and Christchurch cable areas.  Looks like a failed Cable services upgrade or big outage of some sort??  So chewing up my mobile data allowance again!

Couple of things:

** I wish VF would put an up to date message on their network status web page to help us all wasting time trying to diagnose their network outages...very slack on this front!

** Secondly the FibreX network seemingly continues to struggle on with poor performance, the VF internet experience at time over the School hols and Anzac period has been shocklingly slow...congestion !!

I'm seeing all the connections I'm monitoring still up: https://smokeping.murfy.nz/smokeping.fcgi?target=FibreX so may be a local node issue in your area.

Why are you using your own mobile data? If you have a VF mobile they give you free data during an outage.

is this a wide outage or not?

Sounds like not, in which case the title is very misleading.

We're aware of an issue in the Chch area and it's under investigation.

@antoniosk - re a wide outage was the information on the VF 0580 support line (impacts Chch and Wlg was in the IVR message), secondly there was no message online web network status until after 8am, only info was about paradise and clearnet email outage.  There is now a message on status page that it is a Chch problem...So the accuracy is down to Vodafone.

Cool, got it.

If that's what Vodafone said, on their own heads be it then.

Still poor that a human has to 'allow' the information to be made public. Even Spark hardened up and allowed some automated flow through of fault information to their website without 'vetting'

@sbiddle - I am using my own data as I have a Spark mobile and a VF Cable FibreX broadband service. Don't want a voda mobile connection not good for me.... in fact I would prefer a true Fibre Non Voda internet service, not problematic FibreX, but have no fibre in our street!!

cheers

I wish I never swapped from my 100/10 Cable to 200/20 FibreX
It was $10 cheaper and faster (on paper).
Speedtest to Vodafone Chch is the only place you get the actual speed.
The last plan was a lot more constant.

Now it feels like I'm on old ADSL where speed varies on usage :(

I agree with @Linux  I would have your connection checked.  Mine here is Wellington is consistently 200/20 when it is up, and the outages are obvious.

I assume you are in Christchurch.  I believe the the 2deg server down there is pretty good for speed tests (I could be wrong).

Fixed now, apologies for the issue, an upgrade took slightly longer than planned.

Thanks Mike for the message re the restoration, thought it was an upgrade problem. Anyways I have been working with Level 1 and 2 VF Tech support on the FibreX issues I am seeing here in South Chch (Spreydon-Hoon Hay) the general speed and ressponse on web sites does seem better this afternoon... so fingers crossed the upgrade delivers the promised speeds. Cheers
