Don’t need it any longer?
You don’t need to do anything – we’ll close it off for you.

Thanks
Your Team at Vodafone

Wise to include links? Almost reads like a phishing email..

So hope there are no plans to start recycling the unused email address!

What about people who are solely using the SMTP server to send email, but not receive. Are they going to find their email stops working?

Last I used vodafone for email there was no auth on the smtp, or ssl even and it let you put anything as the address so I guess not. Perhaps this is a precursor to a proper email platform being rolled out tho? No point migrating dead and disused accounts.

Just stop doing that. Stop. It relies on old crap servers. Makes the set up non-portable between providers. and is just plain annoying. Stop it.

It amazes me the amount of IT professionals who still go and use the open ISP mail servers. Especially with the likes of SMTP2GO providing a fantastic solution.
