Appears to be a problem with DNS resolution atm.

VF website shows no issues on "network status", "helpline" has a vague announcement about "issues being looked into" and the helpdesk person I spoke could only tell me there was a fault (had figured that out already )

So just in case anyone comes here looking for info, switch to a public DNS server (Google's 8.8.8.8 will do fine) until VF fixes their problems

I had a problem with my home wireless this morning which seemed to come right at around 7:25am. I suspected a DNS issue as my web browser wasn't working but my internet radio was working fine.

Yup, seems to be ok here now. @Rickles Thanks for the update :-)

@Alasta, don't know if your issue was related but I couldn't resolve any url by DNS (browser or ping) from devices using VF's DNS servers (devices using other DNS were fine).

Anyway, all happy bunnies now :-)

Have always found vodafone dns to be pretty poor.

a look in event viewer will often show dns client errors when using the vodafone ones.

switched to google ones long ago

We have been regularly having issues on multiple devices. I decided to do some monitoring based on https://superuser.com/questions/38666/generating-usage-logs-that-prove-my-internet-connection-is-flaky  .I ran this yesterday and today but only have results from today as I accidentally deleted yesterdays logs. Oh well, as the internet keeps dropping off it is easy to replicate the test data. I hope that as I click submit on the post I still have a working internet connection.

  • In a two hour period I have five periods of the internet dropping out for anywhere from 2 1/2 to 5 1/2 minutes.
  • I have snipped the logs to show the start and end of the loss of connections.
  • Connection: Vodafone Cable with Modem: technicolor TC7210

ping stuff.co.nz | while read pong; do echo "$(date): $pong"; done > log.txt
