OK so I'm on Super-prepay with Bestmate and since about 2 weeks now I keep getting 'failed call' or calls that would go directly to voicemail and not connect to my bestmate number!

This is happening to my best mate also on her phone!

The service is becoming pointless to us, as I can hardly connect to my bestmate number.

I have heard from other users also saying they get a lot more failed calls then normal.

I pretty much only use my phone to call my partner, she has the same problem so I can rule out hardware.

We where thinking about moving all our comm service to Vodafone but I'm a little concerned as the only information they can give me is to restart my phone and take out my Sim card.

It seems they are routing my calls differently then normal, but again this is just my guess as I cant get any help from the Vodafone Helpdesk and they are pretty much clueless.

Is this happening to anyone else?

Need more INFO to work with

I do not get " Failed calls " on my handset (3G)

Where is this happening?
Have you tried SIM card in another 3G handset to see if the same issue happens?

Does it happen everywhere you go? or only one area?

John

I've had a bestmate set up since it was first release and use it all the time.
I never get missed calls, or have any trouble.
The only issue I have is one spot on the motorway around the East Tamaki turnoff. At the same spot every time the call either drops, or is unusable for a minute or so before returning to normal.

These 2 places are large areas with many cells!

I was in Greenlane in the weekend and had no issue! Have you got the latest firmware on your handset?

Hi John,

Thanks again for your reply.

No idea if I have the latest FW to be honest, nor would I know where to get it for my Motorola V3x.

My Wife has just called Vodafone and had someone really helpful.

She said that there is a black spot on Queenstown road at the moment and they think it could be due to road works in our area which makes sense if my understanding of cell phones and how they connect\work is accurate! ;)

Regards,

Sten

I use bestmate a fair bit in the Wellington CBD, and very very very rarely have a dropped or failed call. And times it has happened have been in average coverage, which most likely explains it.

What kind of phone?  The only time I have ever had a problem like that was with a jasjam handset, terrible phone (i only had bad experinces with it)!
