we moved into our new pad last week, I signed us up to Naked DSL w/ VFX. Having problems with the Linksys PAP2T, phone doesnt work most of the time, and when it does the line quality is a bit poor. Emailed helpddesk and was told to look for something on my router called an "ALG and if so is there one called SIP or on port 5060, if so turn it off"
I have a Netgear router (forget the model number), couldnt find this ALG, but i did complete the rest of the helpdesk recommendation;
Also it can help to assign a static IP to your pap and then forward the VFX ports from your router to the static IP of the pap. The ports to forward are:
UDP ports 5060 - 5062 -> signaling
UDP ports 8060 - 8062 -> signaling
UDP ports 35384 - 37384 -> voice and media
It's still not working consistently.
Regardless, it's got too hard as far as my fiancé is concerned, so I am wanting to go back to a normal old analogue phone line, but keep (for now) the Xnet broadband.
Can I just go onto the Telecom site and sign up for a homeline? Will I be tied into any contract, or can I quit it at any point and move ISP with homephone line at any point?
