The IP assigned will remain unless the PP drops and reconnects

- the modem will attempt to re-use existing and if available will do so, otherwise gets a new one.

- If the modem is disconnected for more than 1 minute then a new IP will be assigned.

My reason for asking is - before upgrade to FibreX I had a Static IP, then after upgrade the router settings also said Static IP.  However, due to a 'miscommunication', I was subsequently charged the extra $4.99 for having a Static IP, something that was not in the original quote.  Accordingly, Vodafone did apologise and refunded/credit the $4.99 thereafter.

At the time, I took note of the IP addresses, and also created a back-up file of the router settings.  I also noted that last week the IP address was different to one I noted a month or so ago, and that my router settings now say it is a Dynamic IP.

Would it therefore be reasonable to assume that Vodafone reverted me to a Dynamic IP ?

That's interesting ... just checked and my IP address is different this morning ... hmmmm 

Proves that it is Dynamic, I suppose. 

Quick question:   Are IPv6 addresses also reissued/renewed via DHCP (dynamic by ISP, not static)??
