Just to let you know a little about me. I have had success many times driving around in Hamilton and Auckland, spotting car-wrecks on front lawns (mostly) and asking their owners if they would GIVE me their car... for free. Now I said I have had success with this - I mean't it!  and it is an easy way to make money, via scrapping the car at a scrap-yard. It's like door to door sales, every no leading to a yes, backed up with the ideals of one mans junk is another mans treasure.

This is why my ethos in life is DOLE - NEVER AGAIN. Why ever go on the Dole if a little bit of rep-ing yourself and some hard-ish work can earn you the buck? Some of the high powered weeks I made more money in one week than the dole pays for a month, whilst technically being 'unemployed' (while i also believe there's no such thing), just by being straight up with people and telling them, 'I'll remove your car for free.'

I often wondered how often these people have been hard up for money themselves and not realised that on their front lawn is a couple of hundreds of dollars worth of scrap metal. But often it's just laziness that prevents them from doing it themselves, and when my sidekick and I came along with our happy-go-lucky 'we're gonna FINALLY take care of this thing for you' attitude, people grinned and said, 'awesome!' Lots of people said no of course. But if you don't ask, you don't get.

Which is also my policy when asking for other kinds of free stuff! If I wrote a list of all the free (not to be mistaken for stolen) stuff that has filled my house I swear that many people in this consumer driven economy wouldn't believe me. If I took out all the free things in my house, I swear there'd be not much stuff in my house. Most of the stuff in our house has been acquired by my ability to hunt for genuinely generous and good-karma familiar people.

So, to why I'm here. I'm lookin' for the elusive Sony Ericsson Z600. THis phone is so old it's probably in some peoples kids toy-boxes!


The screen on my one has been broken for YEARS! I want someones unused old one if they're willing to hook me up. Even if it IS in the kids toybox, if the screen is still intact, it's THAT that I really want. I'm reasonably confident that a screen transplant isn't too difficult! It doesn't matter to me if any other part of the phone has gone dead.

There's one of these for sale on Trademe as I write this, for $200 ! I'm like, NO WAY.

You can actually buy replacement screens from websites in the UK. At least, they say they're still selling it. for the lovely sum of fifty quid! another ouch.

Considering the only real reason I want my old phone brought back to life is to keep the pictures I took with it. Even though this phone takes crap resolution pics, I still want them. I'm hoping transfer these out via bluetooth, but I would say that I need the screen to navigate to turn the function on, or i need someone who has this phone to advise me on a BLIND method for doing this (coz it still goes). Only now that I'm writing this bit do i consider that the user manual might be able to help with defining a blind method.

I suppose another avenue I'm looking into here is for the Voda reps out there? I've never bothered to walk into a vodafone store and ask this, but I'm wondering if this phone can be hooked up to your computers and sucked of all that resides inside and burned to disc or emailed to me?

But really, why not use it as a phone after it's fixed?

And what about this one?
<--- not very easy to get a large pic of this phone. I also have one of these phones, and some little kid chewed the bottom buttons off. It's still usable, but I have to use a pen or something to push the * 0 and # buttons in the bottom. VERY hard to find a faceplate for this phone (Nokia 3530) HOOK ME UP IF YOU CAN PLEASE! Yet another old phone that people are probably sick of.

Why don't you just say you want a z600?

 

We dont really wanna hear your life story about z600i,doles etc..

 

lol..

 

I wouldn't pay $200 for that mobile too but that model is over 5 years old I doubt you'll have luck finding it
