Hello

With the news that gameplanet and xnet reaching a deal to host there game servers resulting in all gameplanet game traffic as free local traffic for xnet customers, I was wondering if this effects the gameplanet demos /mods/patches downloads.

Ive done some testing and so far it hasnt counted towards my cap, it also hasnt really apeared on my local traffic either. however I think its possibe the bandwidth usage meter is a number of hours behind.

Does anyone know for sure ?

Also what other services are not counted towards your Cap.

Ive seen reports that playstation network downloads arnt counted and possibly windows updates. Anything else ? xbox live downloads would be awesome but thats a completly different thing compaird to PSN

All Gameplanet downloads are not counted to wards your datacap as it's treated as free local traffic, this also applies to Gameplanets Gameservers.

Hi,

The Gameplanet game servers, and the GP Downloads files are all counted as local traffic.  Also, all VFX, Email/DNS/Homepages (to Xnet servers), Recoil (including the Recoil Steam Server) aswell as our Akamai cache servers (these host alot of files, but we have no control, or even know what is on them - but it seems to be Windows Updates, some PSN stuff and a whole heap more).

I'm pretty sure thats it, but I'm sure someone will let you know if there's something I have missed :-)

Cheers,
Callum

Traffic accounting is about 6 or 7 hours behind; we've turned on the catcher-upper so it should be back to normal sometime soon :).
