Over VDSL? they did that one silently.

Does not surprise me, IGMP messages have been over VDSL (and ADSL) for quite some time now.

What i'm interested in, is how they intend to manage the QOS for it.

Was tested over VDSL so QoS already established. I ran it over VDSL to Piha and no issues.

interesting, i'd love to see how it handles on a low end connection (sub 30mbit) with load from the user end.

Assuming it works well, I'm impressed... not sure if i'm willing to sacrifice bandwidth over simply using sky though!

My best speed was 24 and aside from 1-2 seconds of SD before switching into HD, no noticeable issue. 1st wave of apps were shaky but much improved of late.

So for live/linear TV over VDSL it is just OTT streaming via CDN as opposed to multicast?

as far as i have seen, looks to be IGMP ala, Multicast. purely comments based on packets i've seen over the wire though...

Cloud spending continues to surge globally, but most organisations haven’t made the changes necessary to maximise the value and cost-efficiency benefits of their cloud investments. Download the whitepaper From Overspend to Advantage now.

Coming back to my questions and concerns about QOS, it's not actually detailed on the site.

Minimum speed I'm told is 17mbit, that's a massive coverage base. nice target VF.

Hopefully the tv service keeps relevant content ;)

These were the multicast test channels

HD Test

udp://@233.36.129.38:5792

SD Test
udp://@233.36.129.39:5793

I think they should still be playable on vdsl?? or were from the original Vodafone digital  tv (old decoder) service?

Interesting if the OTT streaming is via CDN perhaps using standard m3u8 format? like Sky Go and other services do.

I was interested to see this on the website today (which I did not find very informative, by the way, if anyone from VF is reading...!) as we have VDSL.

One thing I could not find an answer to is whether you can have it on more than one TV in the house at once? Does anyone know?

So @zollymonsta if you could clarify as I have heard various comments but all varing.

Does this service via ufb, hfc or vdsl use multicast for all or some services, or just some or none at all.

Cheers
Cyril

None at all. Utilising ABR OTT.
