So at present we have our old TBox, our existing Vodafone Ultra Hub and a new Vodafone Online hub. We are moving from the TBox to the new Online hub thing.

The TBox has significantly superior TV reception to the new Online Hub. The Online Hub thing is quite washed out and inferior color to the old TBox.

The technician hasn't set it up yet. He came to install it, but the Hub wasn't there, when he left it appeared in the mail box. So I plugged it in.

I hope there are some settings that have to be done because I am not impressed with the quality.

Online hub or do you mean Vodafone TV? No settings should need to be changed it's plug & Play

Vodafone TV Intro with Ultimate Home on fibre X. We didn't use Sky on the TBox, so got sick of paying for it.

I suppose Sky (TBox) and Vodafone have different signal quality, but seeing them both together makes it obvious that Vodafones is much poorer than Sky's.

Try adjusting your TV's colour settings, probably just different codecs/compression

Might be different codecs, but fiddling with the color wouldn't fix that. Its like the difference between 1080 and 4K. There is a good 3 to 5 seconds delay between Tbox and Vodafone as well.

The T-Box HDMI output was changed a couple of years back and ended up outputting a fair bit darker.
You may have adjusted your tv settings to account for that (adding more contrast or brightness) which would explain the washed out look.

Just spoke to the technician to book a time for him to pick up the TBox. He said its because both are plugged in and the signal is being split. Hmmm .... Anyway he'll fix it tomorrow.

I'm still using a TelstarClear T Box!

Had that since not long after they came out, hasn't been replaced at all either.

But back on topic, my folks have the new Digital TV, and 2 big things will keep me and my T Box together:

1) The Digital TV almost needs a daily reboot (well, the one my folks have did, it's better now). Yeah, the T box sometimes crashes and needs a full power cycle..

2) I believe some channels still limit what can and can't be recorded. This maybe a restriction from the content provider through the Digital TV, but i I can record this on a T Box, it's a backward step to go to Digital TV.

Oh dear.... He has no idea what he's talking about... This is a digital video stream (of two different technologies in fact) DVB-C and IP, not plumbing
