Hi,

I currently use an earlier Vodafone PCMCIA VMC modem device.
It operates at GPRS and 3G.

I travel to Australia quite a lot and have set up a Vodafone Australia data plan so I do not pay the VNZ ridiculous data roaming charges of $10/MB. This has worked well. I use the NZ SIM card while in NZ and the OZ card in Australia.

I recently purchased a new laptop and the PCMCIA slot is no longer in the new models.

I am thinking about buying a Vodem.

1)  Can I put in a different SIM card?
2)  Can I access the settings so I can acces V-OZ or VNZ as noted above?
3)  If so, what settings do I need. On the VMC I set up NZ and Australian profiles?

Tx
Stuart

You can still put either sim card in the Vodem and carry on using both sims just like you have with the existing setup - you will need to install the newer version of the VMC software unless you have already done that.

Note: There have been various discussions about the new Vodem here lately, for future-proofing yourself you are better off getting the new Vodem Stick (which supports 900MHz UMTS etc) rather than the original Vodem.
