Loving the new Nokia 6121 ! Python, Location based google maps, text to speech that reads your SMS's while driving, MP3 and Ogg player, .

Lots of 3g coverage in unexpected places in the Waikato, well done Vodafone.

But none in Tokoroa, population 14,500 (second largest town in the Waikato after Hamilton!)

Managed to get 3g in Putaruru up the road (Population 4,000)

Can Johnr tell me when 900mhz will hit Tokoroa?

Cheers
Mac

Yea, with the nokia 6121. Works fine in Cambridge, but was nothing in Putaruru, or Tokoroa. Maybe just a weekend outage or something, but good news anyway as travel to there often.

Coffeebaron, we must catch up for a coffee and compare 6121's, geeks are pretty thin on the ground in these parts !

Was running for a week back in April here in Whangarei then switched off for "technical" ? reasons. Still waiting for it to reappear.

I found a way !

(Yes I know it won't quite work AS IS, it's the thought that counts !)

------------------
/bin/sh
import sms
while true
do
  t1 = date +%s
  wget http://bigfile.com/1mb.jpg
  t2 = date +%s
  if t2-t1<5 then;
     sms.send(021999999,"we got 3g!")
  fi
sleep 60
done
-----------------

This could get expensive !! :-)
