Congratulations to WorldxChange on capturing the 100,000th number ported in New Zealand.

Shortly before lunch on a Monday in late July, a resident in the Auckland suburb of Three Kings became New Zealand’s 100,000th telecommunications customer to take their phone number with them when they changed service providers.

The 100,000th port was completed at 11:36 on Monday 21 July 2008. The porting customer was transferred to WorldxChange’s Fusion service.

Congrats maverick and the team at WxC, how about shouting us all a beer?

With number portability now in full swing, there must be some very complex call routing tables at each teleco!

One thing I've wondered about for some time..

Who actually gets the $18 (or whatever the exact cost) is for a number port?

Two more numbers headed WxC's way here, ex Telecom - placed order yesterday.
After trialling Voip with 2talk - which I have to say was excellent. As was their customer service - the only issue was the IP - who to use ?
In the end I decided that WxC was going to be the most beneficial for us.

In the holding pattern atm ....

The losing provider, this is the cost Telecom charges us for porting the number, we do not put any margin on ..... Innocent

So if that customer was one of Telecom's "unprofitable" customers you are already subsiding the cost of their service with your TSO contributions and when you take the customer away from Telecom you then have to compensate them for that loss.

Surely Telecom should be paying you to take a "unprofitable" customer? Smile

And when you take one of Telecoms "unprofitable" "rural" customers, you pay three times
1. number port
2. TSO contribution
3. higher price for N-DSL
Money mouth
