I thought after 20 years in the industry I’d heard everything but finding out why my Voda fibre order was cancelled tops it all.

 

i currently have Voda tv and fibrex max but fibre is now available in my street so I’ll swap to fibre I thought, easy I thought. Hmmmm.....apparently not, because their process doesn’t work, or is so poorly designed that before you swap to fibre they have to cancel your voda tv straight away and reinstate once fibre is connected. So if I want fibre I face up to a month without Voda tv.

 

wow Just wow.

 

anyone else come across this?

@Teza Call Vodafone and say you don't want FibreX disconnected till the Fibre is connected (this can be done)

This is a well-known problem with Vodafone.

 

They don't want you to leave VF HFC cable and change to UFB fibre, because this is less profitable for them.

 

(Vodafone own the cable network, and they don't want to pay a second party for fibre)

 

If you want to swap from cable to fibre, leave Vodafone for another provider.

 

I intend to do just that in November as soon as fibre becomes available in our street.

 

[I willl use a Gen 2 Vodafone TV box for TV]

 

The fringe benefit is that I will no longer have to deal with Vodafone's arcane billing system.  😐

its not the fibrex that’s the issue it’s that they say they need to disconnect the Voda tv straight away and can reinstate it only after fibre is installed.....I’m still scratching,my head on why they have to do this.

agree that our billing system is arcane (onto that) but we would never not put you on the right network for you. If you think fibre is better and worth the extra cost then of course we would move you to it. Yes - it is less profitable for us, but losing a valuable customer completely is much worse so we never want that to happen. If I can help you out - just let me know. I’d love to keep you with us post November.

The explanation may have been poor but if this is what I imagine, the agent is technically correct - that is the process. There are manual workarounds though to prevent loss of service.
