Hi folks,

Just testing a Vodafone 4G collection in MT Roskill - I’ve noticed that the download speeds are about right (similar or better than what I was getting with Spark or 2D) but I’ve noticed that the uploads speed floats between 1-3mbps. It’s considerably slower than what I was experiencing with other providers (20-50mbps).

I’m fairly sure it’s not my device (iPhone 12), I’ve done multiple restarts and still getting similar results.

Will be trying a few other locations tonight but is this expected?

Assuming his Pcell is 20mhz.

VF have a few fun little chunks.

It's all FDD though so i'd expect it to be fairly decent...

Spark also seems to have turned ULCA on across the network now, quite nice.

Hi there,

In regards to download and upload speeds this can depend on the general signal available in the area such as 3G/4G/5G on capable devices. If you receive good signal on the mobile device this can enhance the speeds or the download and upload capability, You can check out our Vodafone coverage map https://www.vodafone.co.nz/network/coverage/ to get a better indication as to where the coverage is available in an area as factors such as distance from cell site, possible obstructions or direction site is pointing at can affect the overall signal in an area and speeds. Have you tested the download and upload speeds in a 4G coverage area.

Thanks

Jovi

Update on the thread: I ended up moving back to 2D. According to the coverage maps, both areas were in good 4G and one of the areas was even a 5G spot (never attached to 5G however). This wasn’t a deal breaker for me however.

The thing that broke it for me was the extreme call dropping in the basement home-office. I know that all three operators didn’t provide great signal quality down there but I’ve never seen calls drop or fail that often. Additionally iMessage would refuse to activate and would bill me an international SMS each time, resulting quite a few charges.

I did contact Vodafone customer services on multiple occasions but wasn’t given any assistance on the failed iMessage activations and the coverage issue wasn’t moving at the required speed.
