Righto, I just had a missed call, I rang it back and I got an automated answer/disclaimer that it was Vodafone legacy copper somethng or other before it started ringing through, but I gave up waiting after 30seconds (I am on prepay).

Anyone else had this call? seems odd, as the only vodafone thing in the house is my cellphone, everything else is Orcon, and we have been here at least 10 years

number that shows up is

099255503

I was under the impression any outbound contact from VF come from a specific set of numbers. And usually had their typical 777 attributes.

Not an AKL DDI.

Naturally those can be Spoofed. But the common searches for that number on the internets, are a marketing crowd trying to churn deals.

Do you have a copper connection with Orcon?? xDSL or voice?

You may be in area that is about to be "de-copperised" so VF are "helpfully" offering themselves to you as your new provider :)

This could also be described as

"They know your copper with Orcon is going to be turned off, so they through they would chance their arm and try to poach you to a VF Fibre or Wireless solution"

09-925xx is a block of numbers allocated to VF .. ( ie its not going to one of the known scammer spoof paths)
