(Yes, I know this is not the WorldxChange helpdesk, and yes, I have tried working through them...)

I signed up to WorldxChange about 2 months ago.  When I first got the service going, I was using their handling of calls, and played around with the various settings available through myvfx.xport.co.nz - including setting up an alias so that when I rang my home phone from work, it would treat it as if I was 'inside', on my home line.

A few weeks later, I got my asterix box set up and changed over to have that handling everything.  I've got a pretty minimal setup there, with no bells and whistles at all.

But even though the myvfx.xport.co.nz alias has been deleted, it still *acts* like it is there.  That is, if I call my home phone from work, it goes straight into voicemail, without ringing at all.  The asterisk server has *no* entries for anything that would relate to this work number - the only time I ever entered that number in anywhere was for the myvfx.xport.co.nz front end - and it is now gone.

Am I missing something?

Hi Nick,

Looking through your call records for yesterday it appears that all calls have been sent through to your asterisk box.  Do you have voicemail enabled on your asterisk box?  If you can see the calls enter the asterisk box, I suspect it is the voicemail on that which is capturing your calls.

Thanks for looking for those, Josh.

I can see throught the call history here, too, that they have come through and been dealt with by the voicemail internally - but can figure out for the life of me why that *one* phone number appears to be the only one that does that (go straight to voicemail without any ringing...)

I've grepped for the number in /etc/asterisk - can't find anything.

My first guess, since I had had that number set as an alias before moving to asterisk, was that somehow it was being grabbed before delivery and being dealt with.  But now that I work it through, that couldn't really happen, could it?  That is, when WxC gives it to my asterisk box, it (WxC) would not be able to direct it *anywhere* - only my own asterisk could do that.

But I'm new enough with asterisk to not be able to figure how/where/why...

No, once we hand off the call your Asterisk server takes over from there, the only time the call would be passed back to our voicemail system is if your asterisk box had a longer ring timeout than our voicemail system, in which case we would pull the call back into our voicemail.

The SIP messaging for your calls indicate that the call is answered by your Asterisk box and the call does not leave there.  You can turn off your voicemail box at our end so the calls will never be answered by us.

Perhaps try and catch a call with debugging turned on and see what Asterisk is trying to do when handling the call.

Yep, I figured that would be the case.  And as I was just finishing mowing the lawns, came to the conclusion that I'd turn on the debug before I leave for work so I can see the results when I get home!
