Need somewhere to have a bit of a rant. I'm moving house tomorrow so two weeks ago I rang up and told them where I was moving to and to transfer my phone/internet over (I'm on VFX torrent plan). Lady said fine no worries, I asked how long it would take and she said that it would be going at new house on 3rd of July.

So just to make sure that everything was sorted I rang them up today and just confirmed they had the right address and it was all going ahead tomorrow. But no, she told me "It takes 3 working days to transfer connections!" I asked her a few times to clarify and she said it should be up and running by next Wednesday at latest, argh!!

I think this might be the last straw, after constant crap downloading and general surfing performance that has come to be the norm with the crap company they can't even do a simple transfer. I am only moving 2km down the road, 90% sure its on the same exchange. Can't understand how something so simple has to be so complicated.

So hopefully by next wed I will have a connection back and I will be able to post how it went!

The 3 working days is generally 1-3 working days, but it will be from when the line is non-active from the other people moving out. If you knew the people had moved out a few days ago, they could have connected the broadband up 1-3 days from then.
Unfortunately connecting up broadband is a slower process than connecting up an analogue line. It's just the way the Telecom Wholesale system is.

I had the same experience about a year ago.  No mention of the delays in reconnecting at the new address when arranging the change.  Rang a few days after I thought I had arranged for it to be reconnected and was told it was booked for the wednesday (shifted on the friday, rang on the monday I think).

Well they've even failed on the first step. I was told my phone/net would be disconnected at my old address this afternoon sometime. I'm still on here now so they can't even organise a disconnection properly :)
