My father in law uses Ihug, Outlook and PGP Desktop.

Recently he's started getting the following warnings when connecting to his Ihug mailbox:

Is this normal? (I mean, I'm sure Ihug wouldn't want the cert to expire. So: is it the fault of PGP desktop, or just that someone @ Ihug forgot to renew it?)

You'd be surprised at the number of ISPs or IT organisations who let their certs expire.

They should have it sorted soon.

Ihug's response: "Disable SSL and the warning will go away. We trialled SSL but decided not to continue it."

This would have been the rocking attitude back in the day, but Nick and Tim are long gone and Vodafone really oughta be putting a bit more polish on.

Hey guys, CACert are free ;)

IMO not offering SSL mail access is bordering on stupid. I would like to see massive warnings on mail clients like when you submit forms to insecure websites in browsers.

Agreed. I can't imagine why they would "trial" SSL and then decide against continuing it. Wierd.

I posted on the Vodafone Forums.. If they don't want to use SSL then don't advertise STARTTLS via SMTP!
