I just sent the following to Radio NZ. Is anyone else having the same problem?

Last week I enjoyed listening to Matinee Idle at work, via my Vodafone DSL. I'm working at home this week and streaming reception is hopeless. I have TelstraClear cable here. Radio Live starts fairly quickly, but within 15 seconds or so the signal cuts out and it starts buffering. Sometimes the buffering may go on for 15 minutes or so, before giving me a short burst of radio again. It's the same on National and Concert. And the same on Internet Explorer or Firefox.

I have no problem listening to other streaming radio stations.

I have just spoken to relatives in Hamilton (Orcon DSL) and Christchurch (Xtra, I think) and they are having no problem receiving Radio Live this morning

Why is there a problem with TelstraClear and when are you/TelstraClear going to fix it?

You say you have contacted RadioNZ, who do not seem to be the problem. Have you contacted TCL?

Since TCL don't peer the Radio NZ stream comes from the USA rather than NZ. I've just tested it here on TCL cable and aren't having any issues.

Do you mean Radio Live or Radio NZ? Radio Live is not part of Radio NZ, it's a Media Works station.

You should contact TelstraClear, not Radio NZ...

No problems streaming Radio NZ or Radio Live here on TCL cable.

I should have said Radio NZ 'Listen Live' rather than Radio Live. i.e., what's at www.radionz.co.nz.

I have not contacted TelstraClear yet - Radio NZ seemed to be a good first call - it is their broadcast and they should be interested in who can actually receive it. Apart from that, I'm working today and don't have time to wait forever on TelstraClear's helpline.

So far no response from Radio NZ.

Having said that, I am having no problem streaming their content. Perhaps something on your connection? Have you restart your router, modem, switches, checked firewalls, etc?

No - I haven't tried restarting things and will do so.

If it were a firewall problem, wouldn't I get nothing at all, rather than spasmodic service?

I'm getting other streaming radio no problem at all.

By the way, I do remember a few years ago being very hacked off by slow download of Radio NZ podcasts and was told then that it was to do with this business of TCL getting stuff via the US. But that was sorted out a long time ago.
