currently I am on xnet fusion however the new plan "just broadband" from Slingshot is quite good.

would Xnet come out a competitive plan to fight for that>?

Interesting. I am on Wxc as well but these slingshot plans look good.

Yeah. Not to mention for 80 bucks you get 25GB data + free off peak. With Xnet you pay 70 with no data but you do get a VFX line.

With the Slingshot nDSL plan you get $9.95 credit towards an iTalk line... their cheapest iTalk plan is $9.95 with 500 free minutes, so effectively a free VOIP line

I got burned / pissed off with slingshot a few years ago when they introduced a bunch of shiny new 'unlimited' plans for a good price - only to reneg on them several months later.

Xnet has done no such skulduggery in the years I've been with them. Good luck to you if you do go and try slingshot is all I'll say! :)

Agree with Sultanoswing. The only "issue" with XNet has been speed for the last 2 years or so due to the torrenting culture, and some would also complain about the few outages they had. Otherwise I recall XNet is giving us Fusion at the absolute lowest they can. I'm sure Slingshot is subsidising their plan for now to get customers, knowing the economy has recovered but people are still looking for the cheapest prices so now is the best time for them to grab as many customers as they can with a lower risk if/when customers leave.

Is Slingshot up-front about call-out and switching fees for nDSL customers? Can't see it on their web site other than a few comments in help which lists only 2 of the about 10 fees.

I have been with xnet for a few years now and for the most part, cannot complain about the service I receive. My torrent speeds are very good (no problems downloading 20GB overnight) and gaming for the most part is fine. Occasional outages don't bother me too much as they are very infrequent and only last a couple hours.

My only problem is the peak time go slow which adds latency for gaming and prevents me from watching youtube clips in real time.

I am not convinced that slingshot will improve on this so will hold off switching for the time being. I dont like the 6 month contract for switching and don't think its right that you have to stay with a provider when the service they are providing is not what you expected.
