Hi All,
The old thread was locked, so I need to ask my question in a new thread.

I'm a pretty happy Orcon customer, but have been thinking about getting MySkyHD, so the current promotion seems worth considering.

There's a bunch of unhappiness in this forum, but I'm also aware that happy people don't spend their time posting how happy they are.

So how good/bad is it being a Vodafone customer and should I switch?

I have been happy for the past 5 years with VF. Don't have sky though.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I signed up my mate who's a pretty hardcore gamer on the BB Ultimate plan, and also my parents. They are both really pleased with the service they received from Vodafone. I have noticed that part of the threads badmouthing companies with broadband is just because they didn't get the speed they expected, this can be based on multipal reasons such as how far you are away from the exchange, your setup etc.

In working for Vodafone I have only had 1 unhappy customer, but that was because he was Rural and wasn't picking up good speeds (too far from the cabinet or exchange I think)

The MySky HDi offer isn't a bad offer, it saves you $15 a month which is better than nothing, and also you get your Sky and BB/Phone all on 1 bill which makes it handy. I say if you're a Sky Customer, or thinking about getting Sky go for it :) - What's there to lose?

I am also on Orcon and have recently got MySky HDi and am also considering the switch over to Vodafone to save money and the convenience of a single bill for all.
I have been happy with Orcon and never had any troubles with them at all, and it's fast but switching is worth a few dollars.
Anyone taken this offer already and switched over?

Thanks for that michaelmurfy. I'm currently also researching VF and get the MySky package so will be paying attention to this thread.

I'd get the 5GB Ultimate plan and get the $10 double your allowance plan...speed won't be that much of an issue I guess, since I usually use the net for surfing, emails, the occasional download and a bit of You Tube as well. I'm with Woosh at the moment, and I guess it can't be worse, although Woosh are ok at present, but partner and I are looking to switch to something else.

Would be interested to hear from forum members who have recently switched as well.

Thanks all for your comments, I decided to sign up last night, and their estimates are predicting a pretty quick switch (25th) so I might even be able to give some feedback before the offer finishes.

How have other Vodafone users found service reliability to be, and does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to perform the actual switchover from from your existing ISP (IOW, what sort of downtime should I expect)?

When I have signed up people usually the tunaround is 2 days to a week, you keep your existing internet connection until this happens so there's no downtime. When you are all connected all you need to do is update the username / password on your Modem and you are away!

Vodafone will also send you emails with the progress of the switch, so you are always up to date.

I'm trying to sign up at the moment, been on hold for 30 minutes now!!!!!!
Do they want my money or not????
Is this a sign of things to come? I hope not!!!
Have been with Orcon and they have been great but saving $15 a month on sky is good.

One question thou, will i be likely to get the same download/upload speeds that i have already have from vodafone?
If i sign up i will take the 20gig plan?

So far, so good. 15 minute online signup, connected as promised today and five minute setup. Getting 7Mb/s down and 0.45Mb/s up, which I'm more than happy with. Now just have to sort out mySky

I never did a check on the same site, but going by my download speeds (subjectively) I think it's about the same if not slightly faster.

Can the guy from Vodafone answer a couple of questions on this offer.
If I'm still in my first 12 months with Sky will I have to pay some exit fee to switch to Vodafone? And if I have any specials on with Sky at the moment like free sports, or Rialto for $1 would I lose them or will they carry over too?

Hey Neil,

I can confirm to you that you will not have to pay a fee for breaking your term with sky as essentually you are only swapping the billing side of things. As for the Free Sky Sports it would pay to confirm with vodafone/sky.

Just before you switch to vodafone, remember that they are very inflexible with their data plans, so if 40 gigs isnt enough for you then you have no options on vodafone to not get slowed down.

Youre not alone, I am also are looking at switching from Xtra broadband to Vodafone an in particular the Ultimate package with the free MySkyHD deal. However like others I am also very nervous as I also rely on the connection for work purposes.
I have some questions:

1. I currently have a DLINK wireless modem which I got from Telecom, would I have to buy a new wireless modem when switicing to VF?
If not how then how easy is it to setup/reconfigure for Vodfone broadband?

2. I am not in the redzone so am I at risk of a drop in speed when switching or better yet an increase?
According to the http://www.telecomwholesale.co.nz/maps an upgrade will happen in my street to ADSL2+ Upgrade on: Jun 2011.
