Hey,

Zooming across the ditch (heading to NZ) for the weekend.  I already have roaming activated on my phone but I now have a smartphone which will use 3G data.

What are my options for limiting roaming costs whilst in NZ?

Anyone got a link to the charges I can expect for calls/ data?  I am on vodafone network in OZ - on account.

Cheers, Stevo

Vodafone Australia set the pricing so your best bet is to look on their website.

+1.

Also, it might be cheaper to go buy a prepay back in NZ.

Make sure your handset is not SIM locked to Vodafone AU either if you decide to use a NZ SIM

You could just turn data roaming off, no hidden costs there

I don't know about renting, but VF have a store in the CHCH airport and will be able to sell you a prepay SIM for $30.

Otherwise most service stations and dairies stock 2degrees SIMs for $5.

Which is best will depend on who you are calling and how much data you use
