I bought this phone and love it apart from the infernal Vlive customised WAP browser.

Funny, there was no mention on my box and I assumed it was standard issue though a mate got one and it had a "VodafoneLive!" box. Vodafone however had butchered mine too before it was shipped but concealed the fact. GRR >:-(

I only keep it for recieving/viewing MMS on that gorgeous screen. (vodafone is too hopeless to deal with)

Can it be debranded like sony-ericsson's?

it has the same connections and charger as a Sharp Gx15, GX17, GX30, GX30i (and probably GX20 and GX25)

Yup, it can be "debranded". Tried it once.

I used Infinity tool. Heaps of firmware versions on their support site as well. :)

I don't get what you mean by "infinity tool" is it like one of those chunky box things or is it a software? i'm not going to bother unless it's cheap (or i can sell it to heaps of people)

and was it successful? cheers.

Yes it was successful. It's a box, you won't need it when you're just upgrading one phone. It's used for servicing Pana phones.

I had a search for it but found heaps of info relating to different things, how can you upgrad one pana phone? though this is one thing i'd like to offer as a service, there are piles of these phones out there as "vodafone" branded.

Here's the link. http://www.infinity-box.com/

They've got heaps of versions of unbranded flash files, as well as branded ones, specifically Vodafone's. You can contact their resellers if you're keen on having one of these. It's the best Pana tool i've ever had. Good support too. Good luck on that!

I couldn't stand that abomination that is VLive on my handset.

A wap browser with the default homepage (can be changed) set to Vlive is fine. But having Voda logos on start up/shutdown, frontpage, main menus, etc is awful. Besides on my old Z600, it was a huge improvement removing the Vlive firmware (Thanks to Muppet).

Let's count how many links to VLIVE homepage there are in the handset......

Right softkey
Menu "Entertainment" -> "download games"
[Menu] [2] "Vodafone Live" (instead of a browser menu with bookmarks etc.)
Menu "Messaging", Vodafone Mail
Menu "Messaging", Vodafone Messenger
Menu "Messaging", Media album
Menu "Myfiles", Pictures, Download pictures
Menu "Myfiles", Sounds, Download Sounds
Menu "Myfiles", Videos, Download Videos
Menu "Myfiles", Games, Download Games

Thi phone is good, ony a few lings to Vlive!

the worst phone of all time was the SonyEricsson t610,
the right button was VLIVE
pressing up on joystick was VLIVE
pressing the right softkey was VLIVE
the first option on any menu was "More picures", "more souds" ARGH!

I'm really tempted into getting that Infinity box, would any others here use the Debranding service? $450 is bit much for one phones debranding but i could offer it for a nominal charge ($10) to help cover the cost of the box.

Don't forget the dedicated VF Live! Button on the side...

Starts to make you wonder how it won the handset of the year in 2002 or 2003 i can't remember what year... They oviously didn't use the VF Live handset! Lol.

If it debrands a T610 I would definitely be interested.

If you are in Auckland or can go to the Auckland area, ask Muppet. He might be able to help you.

He reflashed my Z600, it was much nicer and seemed faster after the flash.
